Scott Wilk: Composer / Creative Hyphenate

Capsule Bio

Scott Wilk has been a creative "hyphenate" of one sort or another since he was a kid.  An Oberlin Conservatory-educated composer-producer- lyricist-singer-musician-writer, he has spent most of the last 25 years or so wearing one or more of those hats simultaneously.  He’s written everything from film scores to rock tunes, from short stories to screenplays.

A former Warner Bros. and Capitol recording artist, Scott is fortunate to have his music & lyrics airing all over the world. Bette Midler, James Brown and Grace Jones have recorded his songs, to mention a few; Warner-Chappell, Quincy Jones and Emerald Forest publish hundreds of them.

Scott’s film scoring credits include four of director Martha Coolidge’s films, including cult hit “Valley Girl,” and “Plain Clothes." His songs have appeared in movies like “Beverly Hills Cop II” and “Revenge of the Nerds." Scott and then-partner Todd Yvega scored over 110 episodes of network TV, including Paramount’s Emmy-nominated “Duckman” and two Disney shows, the #1-rated "ABC's One Saturday Morning" and "One, Too!"

In addition, Scott has extensive experience creating music for advertising and corporate events both in the US and in Japan. Recent US clients include Charles Schwab and Colgate-Palmolive; numerous Japanese clients include Japan Rail and NTT, featuring a TV spot that won an International Clio Award.

He has also toured the world as musical director / keyboard player for Charlie Sexton, including an appearance on MTV New Years Eve and television shows in Japan, France and the U.K.

Scott lives and works ten minutes from downtown Hollywood.
